Congratulations Pat Grimshaw!

Congratulations Pat Grimshaw!
Tuesday 31 January 2017

We are proud to announce our Advisory Board Member Emeritus Professor Pat Grimshaw has been awarded an Order of Australia.  Announced on Australia Day, the award is in recognition of Pat’s ‘distinguished service to the social sciences and to the humanities through researching, documenting and preserving Australian history, and the roles of women in society’.

Pat’s courageous pioneering efforts ensured that women gained a key niche in Australian history, while her advocacy led to international recognition of Australian women’s history and Indigenous history. She has mentored and inspired generations of historians. This national recognition is long overdue, and could not be more deserved.  Warm congratulations to Pat from all of us at the Australian Centre for Indigenous History.

‘Pat Grimshaw has done so much towards enabling a deeper understanding Australian history - generous, supportive, incredibly hard working and caring.  An innovator who works for the social and national good.  Done so much for women scholars, women's history and for Aboriginal history.  A courageous woman who creates a pathway for future generations’.  Professor Ann McGrath, Director, National Centre for Indigenous History.
